Is your site being seen?

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

Welcome to all the recent members that have joined us. Thanks for your support and trust in Soaring4Traffic.

Thought today, I would answer a question that many have asked recently, concerning certain sites not getting an equal amount of traffic as some of the others you might be advertising.

You see I feel that it is my duty to not only provide the best advertising platform that a traffic exchange can provide but also provide you with information to get the best results from your efforts.

Many of you are advertising affiliate sites that have audio/video that a great percentage of our members do not wish to see again. Not going to name programs, but you probably already know which ones I’m talking about.

You see, when members have the option (and you do at Soaring4Traffic) to not view sites with auto playing audio and or video, they choose not too. When they have seen the same annoying video or heard the audio zillions of times, it really is a turn off. Sure there are places to advertise these sites, but not as a direct view in a traffic exchange. Do they get traffic exchange members attention?

Yes they do, but mostly in a negative way. If you annoy, will they buy or join your program? Not likely. Think about this for a second, most people surf at least 4 or 5 exchanges in tabs at a time. If they choose to have their sound turned on, it is possible for them to hear several audios blasting at once. Very annoying and frankly not very effective in traffic exchanges.

Now I’m going to take this even further by saying that advertising any affiliate page that everyone else is advertising is not going to show you the results you expect. Being different, personalizing your ads is and has proven to be the very best way to use traffic exchanges. Using quick loading splash pages or lead capture pages to build your list is the true road to success in online business.

If you’ve been online any length of time, you’ve heard this over and over, yet we still continue advertising affiliate sites? Hey, I was the same way, did it for over a year with no results to speak of until it finally sunk in to my thick skull. All I’m trying to do here is save you countless hours maybe months of wasted time and money that you don’t need too.

Okay, like me, first thing you say is, well I don’t know how to build a splash page and personalize it, right? I know, said the same thing myself. Thing is you don’t have to know how anymore, there are programs that you can use without even having your own website. Look in the “Resource” section on the main page of this blog. Little program listed there, Splash Page Maker. Sure, it will cost you around $10 per month, but hey much cheaper than a hosting account, building/designing your own site, etc.

Okay, you don’t want to spend $10? Question is, do you want to continue without results? So okay, maybe you don’t have an extra $10 a month to spend, however you should start to realize that making it online is not going to happen the free route like many have promised you. These are just hard facts that sooner or later you will find out, why not now before the wasted efforts.

There is a program that I use sometimes that is free if you wish to try your skills at using splash pages. It’s called Instant Squeeze Page Generator. You can use it for free, but of course it also has a special offer if you wish to gain more benefits. Most all online programs to receive full benefit are this way, so nothing unusual about that.

Look, my goal is not to discourage anyone, but I do feel that as loyal members I owe you the facts. All the programs either listed on these blog links or in your main downline builder are there for a purpose. They are tools of the trade that I personally use and feel would improve, if added to your arsenal, your success online. Again, only if you use them! All were chosen because they come equipped with detailed training that you just can’t get from all the ebooks online.

Take Affiliate Funnel for instance (in blog resource box and downline builder), not only does it allow you to add and advertise your programs but comes equipped with training, online conferences, and even an email follow up series you can add to your own auto responder to build your own list.

Whether you use any of my suggestions is irrelevant, but the point is, start using something other than generic affiliate pages to advertise. My business is Soaring4Traffic.com! Hopefully providing information, suggestions on tools will in fact show you much better results from your efforts by using us in your advertising. Therefore making you a much more loyal and active member. That is my goal, not to just deliver hits, but to make them meaningful and prosperous for you!

Okay, enough on the soap box today…hope some will sink into your head though… :)

Thanks for reading this far, I’m going to be giving away 1,000 credits today. First 20 members that post a comment here will each get 50 credits. You might also want to consider the extra bonus credits being given away on your surf bar. Doubled and tripled at times throughout the entire weekend. Grab’em while you can. :)

Oh, if anyone has had good results from advertising an affiliate page, especially one with auto playing audio or video, would like to hear your results as well.

Thanks for listening and especially thanks for being loyal and active members! We are over 4500 strong now and growing! :)

Soaring4Traffic Surf Console

Monday, August 27th, 2007

It seems that a lot of members are missing or not taking advantage of the unique surf console.

Of course I have no statistics on how many are using it, but from some of the comments and questions think maybe that it either is not fully understood or for some maybe it’s just hard to break old habits. :)

So, my objective with this post is to show how easy it is to set up and use. Not only that, but the advantages of using the surf console as you begin each of your surfing sessions.

So why do I say it’s so easy to setup? Plain and simple it’s done for you automatically when you fill in your ID’s on the traffic exchange downline builder. You see, no need to create all these surfing folders so many tell you to do, with four or five exchanges in each. Of course you can do that, but how do you keep track of what you surfed when?

The Soaring4Traffic surf console does that for you. It records the last date and time you logged in to each exchange, no more guessing. Plus after your surfing session, it moves the last ones you surfed to the bottom. This lets you know right away which ones haven’t been surfed recently because they’re moved to the top of your list.

This script was written for Soaring4Traffic because of my years of surfing traffic exchanges and trying to manage over 50 exchanges. See, I had all the folders everyone recommends with about 5 traffic exchanges in each one. Trying to control that many exchanges however was a nightmare as I wanted to know which ones had not been surfed recently. Sure I could guess or keep a notepad but found even that was not very effective and really time consuming. :)

My theory is that instead of all these silly folders, why not have one single Url saved to my favorites that would take me directly to all my traffic exchanges. After the script was written and Soaring4Traffic launched, got rid of all those silly folders and saved one url, named it, “S4T Surf Console.” Now when I’m ready to sit down and surf, click one link, I’m in without having to login to anything and all my traffic exchanges are listed with the last time I surfed each one.

You see, I like things simple and feel my time can be better spent surfing rather than keeping folders up to date and manually recording each surf session. So that my friends is why I wanted to add the Surf Console script for all members of Soaring4Traffic. Right now, it’s an exclusive feature that only members of S4T have.

Easy to set up, add your ID’s to the traffic exchanges you are a member of in the Traffic Exchange downline builder. Be sure to add the correct referral id, some are numbers, some are your user names. Example: Soaring4Traffic is your referral ID # not your user name.

After entering your ID’s, click the Update button on the bottom of the page. Go back to this page anytime, make changes, add more exchanges, etc… but always remember to click the update button. After entering your correct referral Id’s click the “Surf Center” link on that same page. There you are, you now see only the traffic exchanges you entered your id’s for. Your own personal surf center, so easy so simple and yet so useful.

That’s why I’ve always said that the Soaring4Traffic - Traffic Exchange downline builder serves a dual purpose. First it serves as a downline builder for other traffic exchanges, and creates the surf center at the same time. By the way, both uses are very effective.

So what do you do if one or two of your traffic exchanges are not listed? Yes, we’ve taken care of that also. On the surf center page you will notice a link “Go to My Programs” click it, and it will take you to another page to enter the urls of any traffic exchanges not in the downline builder. Now you have two surf consoles, but both function in the same way by keeping track of your last surf session.

Even if you only are a member of 4 or 5 exchanges, it’s still very convenient and easy. If you belong to 10 or more, maybe 60 or more like me then it is an absolute must. :)

After you have your surf center set up, now you need one url: (You will find this link on your surf center page)
http://www.soaring4traffic.com/surfcenter_ext.php?id=

That is the surf console link, to make it yours, add your id # after the equal sign, then save it to your favorites. That is the only link you will ever need to control and manage your traffic exchange surfing. No folders, no guessing, just the facts laid out in front of you. On the surf console page you will also see the link for the programs you added of your own, under “My Programs”

Another cool thing is that everyone has their favorites to surf more often. When adding your ID’s on the traffic exchange downline builder there is a link to place a priority on each one. Say yes to priority and those exchanges will be on top of all the others listed under Priority Programs. All others will be listed below.

Oh, don’t forget to enter your ID for Soaring4Traffic and add it as one of your priorities, otherwise it won’t show up on your surf console. :)

After each surfing session, refresh the surf console page to see how it records the date, time and moves the currently surfed to the bottom. Also another good thing to do is before logging out of each traffic exchange, login, check your sites, assign credits, text links, and banner impressions. Now your advertising is on auto pilot until you need more credits and need to surf some more.

The surf console for me is not only for surfing but a record keeper of all the exchanges I use. In other words, I use it as a login page to all my exchanges. For example, my tracking indicates that a particular exchange is not sending visitors to my site? Use the surf console, find it, see what the problem is, (usually ran out of credits) assign more credits. So simple, so easy and absolutely a must for me. Truly do not understand anyone not finding it’s usefulness very beneficial.

If you would like a short video tutorial on how simple the surf console is to setup and use, it is on your main member’s page. You can also view it here, only about 2 minutes long.

Of course if you still have questions, feel free to send me a support ticket anytime.

As always, would love to have your comments, be they good, bad or indifferent. Otherwise how will I know what you really think about the surf console?

Navigation of this Blog

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

Had a couple of people comment about getting lost on this blog. Totally understandable as the more gets posted, more ways to lose yourself.

One key is that if you do get lost, on the top of every page is the link that says “Take me Back to Home Page”

At least that will get you back to where you began. :) As the system archives article posts, you will find the link under archives on the right side of the home page. These will be archived by month as soon as we move to the next month, etc.

If you find the blog from a particular post, you can still get to the home page with the link at the top. You will also notice on each article “previous entries” or “next entries” link. Those will move you to the next article, either before or after.

Hope this helps somewhat, get lost here sometimes myself. Tried to keep it simple as possible but still can be complicated. :)

Special Note: Found out today that my regular email account is blocking emails being forwarded to me from S4T, without my previous knowledge. If you have sent in a support ticket or need help with anything, don’t worry, am checking the back office for support issues.

Wrote about this in another article on this blog, how email providers make this decision without your knowledge. Will be setting up another GMail account to have all my mail forwarded too. Suggest all do the same if you intend to do business on the net.

Traffic Exchanges Are a Waste of Time!

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you. Posted this article once in “The Talon” and felt maybe new members may have missed it. Such a good article, directly relates to traffic exchanges and how we use them, thought it would be a good idea to post here for all to read. :)

“Traffic Exchanges Are a Waste of Time!”
by: Dan Moses

Have you ever heard someone say this in a forum or in an email that came across your inbox? I know I have and every time it makes me say to myself… these people don’t know what they’re talking about.. or do they?

Sure if they’re not using them correctly then it is a waste of time for them. They’re wasting their time using the TE’s to advertise because they don’t know how to use them effectively.

On the other hand… they’re not a waist of time to many people because they do know how to use them effectively.

Today, I want go into the top 5 ways to use TE’s effectively.

1. Start with the end in mind. If you want to provide a product they want or desire to a surfer of a TE then you need to ask yourself what they want? What do most TE surfers want and desire? Well one things for sure you know they want more traffic. You know they’re using the TEs to get more traffic… and you know they’re goal is get more people to their sites. I think I said the same thing 3 times. :o)

That’s an easy one… so is there a product that you own, promote or can create that would be what they want or desire?Let’s say you come up with a product that will help them surf in half the time they’re doing now (that’s not cheat software :o). Or a new software tool that will help them manage all their TE accounts for them. Would that be something they would want or desire? You Bet! So, that’s something you have to keep in mind.

Too many people are promoting things in TEs that no one cares to buy or use. That’s another reason why promoting TEs in TEs works so well. That’s what the surfer is looking for #1… Traffic generating tools or services. Okay so let’s say you have the coolest and newest tool that every surfer has got to have… and they can afford to buy it. Now that’s half the battle and you’ve won that one before you even step onto the battle field.

2. Create a Splash Page that lists the top benefits they want and a catchy graphic that stops them dead in their tracks. Too many people promote long sales pages in the TE’s that people just don’t have the time to read while they’re surfing. Remember there goal while they surf is to generate traffic to their sites. You have to catch their eye first by putting something in front of them that will stop them dead in their tracks and then get them to click over to your site from the Splash Page. That way you have their undivided attention. Your headline needs to contain a sense of urgency. It must tap into anticipation, desire, curiosity, and other emotional hot buttons. It must have a call to action.Keep in mind, once they click over to your site… it better be something that interests them or they’re gone for good and chances are even if they see your page 1,000 more times they won’t ever click it again. :o(

3. Lead capture pages… these still work very well. If you give them enough information to get their curiosity flowing, but not enough for the whole enchilada, then you can get them to fill out your lead capture page for more info, or to download a free product. The secret here is to give them something they would gladly pay for, but they don’t have to since you’re giving it to them for free (plus that let’s you know what they’re interested in… and means you can sell similar products to them later).

Now if you’ve captured their name and email to follow up with them for a sale, then It’s best from this point to send them some follow up messages that will drip your sales messages over days and weeks with the ability to buy the product at anytime through out the emails you send them.

How many emails should you set up to go out? That’s up to you… if you test the emails and know that on day 3 of the emails 90% of the subscribers buy, then you might not need to keep adding email after email. Set up about 5 and add on if necessary. Keep testing and find out what works or doesn’t.

4. Squeeze Pages. This is a combination of both a Splash Page and a Lead Capture Page in one. It gets the viewer to fill out the form and once they do they get redirected to your sales page with a more open mind because they just gave you their name and email for more info.

Then you can send them the follow up emails like the lead capture page does. Just make sure if they buy your product from the sales page that you stop sending them emails especially if after a certain amount of messages you start offering lower prices. You don’t want upset customers knowing they could have paid less for the product.

5. The Free Report… this is where you give them access right to your Free Report. This can be great for the skeptics out there. These are the people that have gotten burned from opting into too many email lists and they aren’t going to just give up their name and email anymore. They get way too many emails as it is and don’t trust anyone.

So, adding a link to your Free Report right from a Splash Page can help these people click over and get more comfortable with you and what you’re offering before they have to give out their info. Then after they read the report, give them a way to opt-in for more info.

My suggestion to you is to first get something they want, then second add all three methods to present the info through out the TE’s. Then third… test each one and see which generates the highest return on investment.

Okay, now here’s the most important tip in getting results from promoting in the TE’s.

After setting up a product you believe they will want, and implementing all three advertising methods and sending about 10,000 unique visitors to those pages… if you don’t see people opt-in or get a sale… Then Stop! That’s it… quit wasting your time. You’re right… Traffic Exchanges Are a Waste of Time.

I bet that won’t happen! Actually, I’ve had so much success using the TE’s I know that won’t happen. And if it does…please let me know and I will take the time to explain why it didn’t happen and show you what you did wrong or why it didn’t work for you.

Don’t believe me… prove me wrong today… I double dog dare ya! :o)

Ten Seconds of Fame

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

The 10 second timer seems now to be the standard for most traffic exchanges. Yes, some might have an 8 second timer, others run specials at 6 seconds or even 5 sometimes but less than 10 seconds in my opinion is not a valid view of your site.

Soaring4Traffic has adapted the 10 second timer for all accounts. Ten seconds we feel is fair both as you’re surfing and as an ample amount of time for your site to be seen.

There are some points you need to consider however. We have always advised everyone to use splash pages, or at least pages that will load within 3 to 5 seconds. Even if the timer is 30 seconds or more, sites that don’t load within the first few seconds are likely to be by passed anyway.

Remember, an average surfer is surfing to build credits for his/her own site to be seen. Some of us are looking for products, tools, training, information that will improve our own business. Most of the products or services I’ve added to my portfolio has come from traffic exchanges. Many of the subscribers lists I’m on came from traffic exchanges. Most of the information that I know today came from traffic exchanges. All this before I owned one, and still today I look for more.

The tools I now use online, the training I’ve received, the resources and people I’ve gotten to know have basically all come from traffic exchanges. How did they get me on their list? How did they convince me to buy their product or use their service?

By utilizing the Ten Seconds of Fame theory! In other words, the pages they used were attractive, short, sweet and to the point. They didn’t try to sell me something while I was surfing but rather encouraged me to either sign up to get more information and or click to see what they were offering. Of course the lure of a free product to take a look at their site was in play at times. :)

Pages that attract me are ones that give me 3,4, or 5 reasons why I need the product, and an easy way to get it without interrupting my surfing. Of course, sometimes I just opened the page and saved it to my favorites for later review if it was interesting enough.

My point to this is simple. Basically you only have a few seconds to attract attention. Do you have your name, image, logo, or subscribe form on your site? Does your site load quickly enough? Is it unique, different, attract attention? It might actually take 10 times for someone to see your site before they commit to anything. If they continually see it, over and over with your name, logo, image, people will get familar with you, remember they’ve seen you before.

Recognition plays a huge role in your online success. People buy from people they know and trust.

Building your image for recognition on traffic exchanges should be one of your main objectives. Combined with building your list by adding a subscribe form to your page. If you concentrate on those two objectives alone, your success and conversions using traffic exchanges should increase.

Keep in mind, you have 10 seconds to impress, 10 seconds to attract, use your 10 seconds wisely!

That’s my thoughts and opinions, what attracts me might not be attractive to you. Hence, the reason we continue to change, test, try different methods, different looks, and different ways to attract others. Advertising with traffic exchanges is no different than offline or other online methods. Just a whole lot less expensive. One difference is that with traffic exchanges you have a captive audience, now go impress them. :)

Traffic exchanges can make you famous, but you only have TEN seconds to do it!

Would love to have your comments, suggestions and maybe some ideas of what has or has not worked for you.
