NoScript Revisited

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

First let me preface this post by saying that I personally have learned some valuable lessons in the last couple of weeks concerning the No Script add on for Firefox. Things I never knew, mainly because in my 4 years of working online, had never used it. Now you’ll need to read my story to understand this.

During the time Sunny was writing a report about the FireFox NoScript add on, we chatted a few times. At first I had no idea why she was writing this report mainly because as I said, had never used it. Heard of it, but never felt the need for it.

Since I was in the process of setting up a new computer thought maybe I should check this thing out, see what she was talking about. Guess I’m behind the times since as of this writing there have been 25,257,999 downloads, an average of 197,741 per week. After seeing what it does, that really scared me into making some quick changes to my own web pages.

I also want to apologize and get the message out to all my current subscribers where I’ve recommended using the Aweber Javascript code for presenting your subscribe form. Had no idea that quite possibly millions of people will never see it. Please make that your top priority to do today, change the script code to the HTML code they provide. Don’t wait on this.

Now, not being a “techie” type person, I downloaded the script with all defaults. Usually do all programs and suspect I’m not in a minority here, but rather the norm for a change. :)

First thing I noticed was traffic exchanges I could not surf, unless I allowed the site. Also there were many pages I viewed that were totally chopped up, missing sections and for each one I had to allow the browser to show me the full page? After reading more about this script, realized you need to train it? Well, don’t know about you, but I really don’t have the time to train a browser, too many more important things that need attention.

There has been several blog posts and forum threads written about this in the last few days. From some of those, think it was Tim Linden’s blog, he made a point you could change the settings to allow all scripts globally. Found that setting, however it gives you the “dangerous” warning, but I did it anyway. Really improved my browsing experience.

Now to my main point and a warning to all who advertise on the internet. Hey, that would be all of us, right?

My opinion is that out of the 25 million plus, probably 22.5 million will download it as defaulted and never change any settings. (no stats to back that up, just a guess). Also probably guessing that most of those 22.5 million will not train their browser properly to see sites in full living color.

What does that mean? From what I understand, using any JavaScript to present sign up forms, advertising affiliate pages that use JavaScript, any method of advertising to this mass is basically wasted whenever any form of Javascript is used. Doesn’t have to be bad scripts, any scripts.

Is JavaScript bad? No, but like anything else, in the wrong hands it can be. Same applies to the No Script add on. In the wrong hands it is detrimental to your advertising efforts. In other words not knowing how to use a tool or using it improperly is really the danger.

Lessons learned by me were eye opening to say the least. Since I have always used the Aweber JavaScript code to present my subscribe forms, no way of knowing how many never saw the form? Also explains why I would get questions about my pages not displaying properly from members.

Had no idea before, but now the first question I ask is, are you using the FF No Script add on, and if you are… blah blah blah, this could be the reason. Has solved almost all those type support questions. :)

Seems the number of traffic exchange members using no script could be quite large. So what is the answer to this issue?

Not really sure there is a simple answer, but the first thing you should do is check the sites you’re advertising, especially your lead capture pages, make sure you’re using HTML instead of javascript for your subscribe forms. Someone with more technical knowledge than me would need to explain how to change other types of advertising that use javascript.

Second thing to do would be to educate the users of no script on how best to use it or at least let them understand what they’re missing? Sunny’s report provides that information and has been very helpful to me, the non “techie” type. :)

With all the babbling about Sunny’s No Script report, the other 9 reports have been totally over looked by most, not me…lol. Got an education on other cool addons that I did like and added them to my FireFox browser. Things I don’t have to train!

Of course if you haven’t seen her new site, you have no idea what I’m talking about. It’s called All About Addons if you care to check it out?

In summary, I now know more about the no script add on due to Sunny’s report and have taken steps to change my pages, including the subscribe form on this blog. By the way, you can subtract one from the over 25 million plus, I personally removed it until I learn how to use it without interrupting my work.

Also my sign ups per day has steadily increased as I remember where all the subscription forms are and make the changes. :)

On anther note, how are you liking our new “Crack the Egg” game? So far, good reports from members that really enjoy the challenge. Let me know what you think.

Be sure you look for tomorrow’s email, we have something very exciting to tell you about. :)

Firefox-Love it-Hate it?

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Actually I love the Mozilla Firefox browser, but since I wasn’t using many of the addons available, wasn’t really aware of the various options and in some cases addons bad for Internet marketing.

In the last month or so, been getting my education of how best to utilize this browser for more pleasant surfing and other useful little add-ons I was not aware of. My instructor, none other than the add-on lady herself, Sunny Suggs. Though we’ve never met, still consider her a friend and someone who will become widely known very quickly.

You see what Sunny has done is put her heart and soul into creating a most useful product for people like me that never took the time to see these options. She also made me aware of why some of the “nasty” add-ons being used by some traffic exchange members can really curb your sales and marketing efforts.

What I’ve learned does explain some weird things I never understood when people would tell me my payment button wasn’t working or they couldn’t subscribe to my list. Now I understand more, and can maybe offer solutions when these questions arise.

You need to help me spread the word about this for the benefit of all Internet marketers. Remember this name, Sunny Suggs, the product she has created is of value to anyone online using Firefox, which seems to be more wide spread every day. Hey, its a great browser in my book, even more so now, with all these cool little add-ons.

Sunny has spent the time, done the research, written 10 E-books you can download for free. She also has a special one time offer upgrade that allows you to re-brand the books with your referral Id’s, either give them as free bonuses to your subscribers or use your referral link and make commissions.

The E-books alone are worth every penny, plus she has thrown in some more valuable bonuses which by themselves are worth more than the one time offer price.

Not really sure why she’s giving this all away free, but before she wakes up and changes her mind, maybe you should see what I’ve been talking about. The site is properly named, All About AddOns.

It has been valuable to me and if you use or intend to use the Firefox browser, it will certainly have value for you or anyone that does. Plus we need everyone to spread the word about the “nasty” add-ons that could possibly steal 50% of our sales.

Sign up here to get your free downloads and be sure you take a good look at the special offer. Soaring4Traffic credits are also involved. :)

That’s it for today. As always leave your comments below.

Prizes, Comics, Plus New Program

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Thought it was about time to bring everyone up to speed on all the latest additions at Soaring4Traffic. Just to summarize what’s been happening as of late.

First thing we did was change the letter hunt game for better understanding and increased the value when the word phrase is completed. Now when you complete “Soaring with Eagles”, 100 bonus credits are added to your account.

Next we added a prize page script to better deliver the various prizes to include credits, banner, text link impressions and even cash. We have further plans for this script in the very near future. Stay tuned for that.

Realizing how boring surfing can get at times since we do take our business very serious, we thought maybe some comic relief might be in order. We’ve added some comic pages in rotation, unique to Eagles, hope they bring a smile to your face or perhaps an outright chuckle. :) Let me know what you think about those.

Right now there is a total of 10 comics. They are controlled by sessions, so if you want to see all ten, probably have to surf approx 250 pages in a session. If you stop surfing and start again, you will see them from the beginning. Sorry, controlled by the script setup that displays them. :) If you like those, maybe we will have more created next month.

Now I have to tell you about this new program being launched today, 9 A.M. PST, so you’re getting it first.

Yes its a traffic exchange, but a very unique one. Built from the LJ script much like Soaring4Traffic was originally, but highly modified. Ryan Hogan and Ed Tyner have gone all out to create something totally different and unique. Not only does it have your standard website views, banner and text link advertising, but also a unique way of earning credits.

Oh, that’s not all, it has an opt in list builder, personal program builder, an affiliate tool box, plus ability to chat and network with other members in real time. As you can see these guys have put a lot of time and thought into the development of this program, well worth your time to check it out. Promo Lotto is the name, unique is the word from go.

Congratulations to these guys for creating something different and exciting. Look for yourself here, get all the details.

That’s it for today, here’s hoping you are getting good results from your Soaring4Traffic advertising. Quick reminder, not building your list yet, put that on the top of your things to do. Top priority.

Oh almost forgot, more prize pages are being added today, we never let them run out. :)

List Building Soap Box

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Before we jump up on the soap box, are you receiving Soaring4Traffic email? This blog post is being sent from Aweber, maybe you will receive this and realize you haven’t. Since we are on a new server, new IP address, some members email providers are bouncing our emails.

Believe it or not, some are important. For instance, commissions received, downline notifications, special bonus days, and last but not least replies to your support questions.

We have taken every step possible with the major email providers to authenticate our server IP for better email delivery, however some of the less known are still in the blocking mode. So if you are not receiving emails from our server, please white list our domain. If you are still not receiving, would suggest changing to a Gmail account. :)

Ok back to the soap box again talking about list building to increase your online results. Believe me, I wasn’t always this passionate about list building. At first didn’t understand the power nor was I very good at it. At some point not even sure when or what triggered it, became determined to learn.

Guess mainly hanging out with other TE owners and members through forums, conferences who were in fact getting good results from advertising in traffic exchanges above the norm, just wanted to see what and how they were making it work for them. If you’ve followed my emails or previous blog posts, we continually stress the need to “Brand” yourself and “build your list” using traffic exchanges. Much of this falls on deaf ears as it did me for a long time.

First there was the fear of writing an email series that would have any real value. Setting up an autoresponder was really the easy part, writing was the real issue. Then I realized that all you need to do is be yourself, write about whatever subject is your main focus. Since becoming a traffic exchange owner, this is my focus.

Focused on growing the exchange, but more importantly focused on members getting better results when using them to advertise. My gain is simple, if your results increase, you will be more active, plus hopefully tell others of your results and therefore recommend my traffic exchanges as a place to advertise. No hidden agenda here.

Hence the reason for my latest email series written for those that want to start building a list, simplified step by step with all the necessary tools, ideas, suggested email series you can copy right to your autoresponder. Also includes suggested programs, affiliate products to promote in building your business.

All are free programs, but keep in mind each will present you with an offer for more benefits. No need to be offended by these offers, its totally your choice to make. If you don’t see an advantage for you, then by all means pass them up. That simple. They are included as part of the training series so you see how and why things are done to increase one’s income.

Now here’s where you get the link to the email series called List Building Simplified. Totally free, no obligation, unsubscribe anytime. Not all of the emails are personally written by me, copied with permission, but personalized, which again is part of the training to show that you don’t have to know how to write an email series. Many affiliate programs have pre-written series provided for you.

By the way, no big secrets revealed in this series, just ideas, free programs to use, and lessons learned from those who I’ve learned from.

Don’t misunderstand, traffic exchanges are not the only place to build your list but for sure one of the best uses of your advertising credits.

Writing articles, safelists, and viral list builders come to mind as other means to increase your list building. Just as in learning how to best use traffic exchanges, each method has its own learning curve to be truly effective. In fact before you start using safe lists, save yourself lots of time and wasted effort. Get Soren Jordansen’s Ultimate Safelist Survival Guide, will be the best $10 you ever spend.

Speaking of viral list builders, one I’ve seen advertised all over the net lately and just recently realized it was created by a couple of fellow traffic exchange owners. So for the ever increasing desire to improve my list building and promote Soaring4Traffic, I signed up after chatting with one of the owners. These things do work, some of the top online marketers use them daily.

You’ve probably seen the advertisements also, its called Downline Builder Direct. Free program, yes, but again has advantages for upgrading which you will see when joining.

All right then, off the soap box for now. Hopefully, through some of these posts and emails you will begin to not only get ideas but start acting upon them to assist with your online endeavors.

That’s all for now, thanks for reading, thanks for being a member of Soaring4Traffic. Look forward to your comments.
