Traffic Hoopla Rankings?

Seems there is quite a stir lately about the Traffic Hoopla ranking system.

This I’ve personally questioned over the last few months due to my own tracking and data collected, plus other conversations in forums such as the Net Marketing Forum. Seems there is concern whether the rankings are biased or in fact true realistic data.

Several other traffic exchange owners and marketers have expressed their concern. Read Tim Linden’s latest blog post on this matter.

Jon Olson, owner of several traffic exchanges and well respected in this industry, for many years has also made several comments in this respect.

On another note this post made by Robert Puddy and similar comments by others is of great concern to many.

For years I followed, believed in the Traffic Hoopla data that was being posted. Now I’m not so sure. Many questions have been brought to light. While it is a known fact that any traffic exchange ranked by Traffic Hoopla will see new activity and members, are they really joining for the right reasons?

That’s my take, comments welcome.

    Hi Ray,

I have always held the notion that one should track their own stats so that they now how they are truly doing and can back up what they preach.

In a way second or third party ranking sites seem like just a vanity ploy.

Always have hard data to back up your facts, social proof is nice but not always valid.

    All the best,

    Ray,
I abandoned Traffic Hoopla and it’s ranking system a while ago. I find doing my own rankings and relying on Alexa activity works for me.
If you use your own critieria you can examine such things as timer length, number of visitors to your site, etc.

    Hello Ray;

Interesting article and I am truely surprised with the linked resources.

I am glad Traffic Exchnge Exposed has always been marketed as a resource derrived from my own surfing efforts. Not always the “Ultimate List” but one that should be used by all in determining their results.

    Take Care,
    Phil
